Yesterday, Ed continued the progress, adding sheetrock over the newly installed beam and meticulously spackling it smooth. The final touch for this structural element will be the addition of crown molding to each side, seamlessly blending the new beam into the existing architectural details and giving it a polished, finished look.

WOW! The immediate impact of removing that wall and its temporary supports is absolutely astounding. You can still faintly see where the wall once stood on the floor, a subtle reminder of the dramatic transformation. The space feels immeasurably larger, lighter, and far more connected. Perhaps the most incredible benefit is how it has virtually doubled our view out to the pristine lake from both the kitchen and the living room. It’s like a living, breathing landscape painting unfurling before our eyes, bringing the tranquility of the outdoors directly into our home. The natural light now floods the entire area, creating an airy and welcoming atmosphere that we’ve always dreamed of.

The reason for a bit of quiet around here lately is because my focus for the past week has been entirely consumed by the right side of the room in the photo above – a side you can’t yet see. I’ve taken on a major DIY project there, a challenge that has demanded every ounce of my time and energy, literally from the moment I wake up until I fall into bed, utterly exhausted, at night.

This demanding DIY challenge has a strict deadline: it needs to be complete by next week. It has, admittedly, pushed back all the other projects I had lined up, but I can confidently say it has been entirely worth it. The results are turning out even better than I could have ever imagined! I’m not yet at liberty to reveal all the intricate details about this particular project and challenge, but trust me, the unveiling will be soon. I am incredibly excited to share it with you all, as I genuinely believe it’s some of my best work to date, a testament to what dedication and creative problem-solving can achieve.

Today, however, I’ve officially put down my DIY tools. It’s time to pause, recharge, and enjoy some much-needed family time. Both of my daughters are coming home for the Easter weekend, and Ed’s best friend will also be joining us.
