My 58th birthday happened to fall during our stay, providing the perfect excuse to enjoy a few extra treats, including a blissful massage and a rejuvenating facial at the resort’s world-class spa. It was a wonderful way to celebrate amidst such serene beauty.
A distinctive feature of our stay was residing in the resort’s innovative new building. Here, an incredible architectural marvel awaits: every floor boasts a lazy river on the ocean side. Imagine having direct access to a gentle aquatic flow right from your private porch! Each room is thoughtfully designed with a spacious porch, featuring an outdoor bed, comfortable chairs, and, most impressively, direct access to this unique lazy river. Ed and I, along with both our daughters and their partners, were treated to an incredibly romantic candlelit dinner for two directly on the beach one night. Our new favorite discovery was a concoction called an “Iceberg” – a wonderfully unique and refreshing blend of Dos Equis beer with a frozen margarita. During our stay, we had the fascinating experience of witnessing two of these dramatic weather events roll in, both conveniently around noon. Rather than disrupting our day, they provided a captivating natural spectacle. From the comfort of our beach beds, we watched with awe as ominous dark clouds swiftly gathered on the horizon, transforming the sky into a theatrical canvas. The ensuing rain, intense but fleeting, brought a refreshing coolness to the air before quickly moving on, allowing the sun to re-emerge and bless us with clear skies for the remainder of the day. It was a beautiful reminder of nature’s power and rhythm.

On another day, I embarked on a long, invigorating walk along the beach, venturing far out to the end of a point and past other resorts. This particular photo was taken a day after the panoramic shot. Despite the dramatic clouds visible over the ocean, it never rained along the immediate beach where I walked, only out over the vast expanse of the sea. I momentarily doubted if I’d make it all the way back, but the captivating scenery and the refreshing sea air spurred me on, and I successfully completed my trek, feeling invigorated and even more connected to the stunning coastal environment.
Cherished Memories and a Return to Routine
Our week at El Dorado Seaside Suites was nothing short of fabulous, a perfect blend of soaking in the beauty of a world-class resort and, more importantly, cherishing precious time with our daughters and their partners. As with all wonderful vacations, it felt like it went by far too quickly, leaving us with a bittersweet feeling as we prepared to return home. Now, we’re back home, having seamlessly transitioned back into our routine. We celebrated July 4th out on the lake with dear friends, carrying the relaxed vibes of our Mexican escape into our local festivities. Today, it’s back to work and, of course, back to my beloved DIY projects. My first undertaking this week is an exciting makeover of our home’s front door with a fresh coat of paint.
