Welcome back to this week’s edition of Style Scouting! This is my Sunday ritual where I meticulously gather and share a collection of intriguing finds, inspiring ideas, and delightful discoveries from across the web. It’s been an unusually wet and blustery spring here in South Carolina. The skies have been more gray than blue, and the winds have rustled the trees with an almost constant whisper. I’m sincerely hoping this isn’t a preview of what summer has in store for us, especially since I’ll be taking over the weekly lawn care duties from Ed. He’s scheduled for a right shoulder replacement this week and will be out of commission for a while, facing a significant recovery period. Navigating a riding mower over a soggy, uneven lawn is definitely not the easiest task, so I’m crossing my fingers for some drier weather!
Just yesterday, Ed patiently walked me through the intricacies of starting and operating our riding tractor-style mower. Up until now, my lawn care experience has been limited to the push mower – a much simpler affair! While I’m a bit nervous about handling such a large piece of equipment, I also know that once I get into the rhythm of cutting the grass, I’ll undoubtedly feel a surge of nostalgia. I’ll probably channel my inner Mr. Douglas and find myself humming, or perhaps even belting out, the classic tune: “Green Acres is the place to be. Farm livin’ is the life for me. Land spreadin’ out so far and wide…” If that reference doesn’t ring a bell, chances are you didn’t grow up during the golden age of television in the late 1960s or early 1970s. It’s a delightful throwback!
