For Ed and me, the holiday celebrations kicked off a little early this year with a wonderful trip to Los Angeles. We had the immense pleasure of spending quality time with our daughter Kelly, our son-in-law Roger, and our delightful granddaughter Zoe, who is growing so big and vibrant! Our days were filled with classic holiday traditions: the sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies, cozy evenings watching heartwarming Christmas movies, and endless laughter and playful moments that reminded us of the pure joy of family. These are the precious memories that truly define the holiday spirit, making the journey across the country absolutely worthwhile.
One unforgettable day was spent embracing the California charm on the sunny beaches of Santa Monica. Even though there was a slight chill in the air, we bundled up warmly, reveling in the crisp ocean breeze and the expansive views of the Pacific. The day culminated in a spectacular dinner at Elephante, a beautiful restaurant known for its stunning ocean vistas. The food was exquisite, but it was the entire atmosphere – the sound of the waves, the company of loved ones, and the breathtaking sunset – that made the experience truly magical. Time seemed to fly by far too quickly, but every moment was savored and treasured.
We have just a few more glorious days here on the West Coast before we make our way back East. And if the weather reports are accurate, we might even be greeted by a blanket of snow, setting the perfect scene for our second round of Christmas celebrations with our younger daughter, Mandy. The thought of a white Christmas after the sun-drenched beaches of California adds another layer of excitement to our holiday adventures. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience the best of both worlds and share the festive joy with all our beloved family members.
