Done In a Minute: Letter & Number Gift Tags

How to make gift tags for Christmas and other gifts in a fast and easy way using a few craft supplies.

I wrapped a bunch of gifts yesterday. I wanted the process to be easy, but wanted to add something different in the way of gift tags.

I decided to use chipboard letters that you can buy in the scrapbooking aisle at Michaels crafts store.

They come in a stack that includes black & white upper and lower case letters and numbers that you punch out from a sheet.

To make them into gift tags, I simply punched a hole in them.

I wrote – To and From on the back of the tags using a marker.

Then tied them onto the packages with ribbons that I have been collecting all year.

I left most of the tags plain, but you can draw on them with colored markers…

add glitter to them….

…and even add embellishments – my favorite – jingle bells, small ornaments, Pom-Poms, and cuttings from a piece of fake greenery. Here are some more gift wrapping ideas to keep you wrapping all year long –> Gift Wrap Archives.
I used the first initial of the recipient’s name for the tags. When I have more than one gift to give one person, I used the numbers 1..2…3… Kind of ups the excitement of getting and opening a gift a little :)
The chipboard letters and numbers also go with a variety of gift wrap styles and colors which makes them super versatile. If you have any left over, hang a few on your Christmas tree as ornaments.
I bought the brown and polka dot gift wrap at HomeGoods, the rest is from Walmart.
The solid color ribbons are from The Dollar Tree, the stripes and patterns I found in the clearance bins at Michaels.
