Touring the HGTV Dream Home 2020
Earlier this week I was invited to tour the HGTV Dream Home 2020 on Hilton Head Island, SC. It was hosted by HGTV and Cabinets to Go , whose cabinets are featured throughout the house.
Ed came along with me so we could enjoy riding bikes on the empty beach in the mornings and he could play some golf as well as tour the house. We stayed for two days and enjoyed the weather that felt more like April than January. :-)

Now I want to take you on a tour to see some of my favorite rooms.
Keeping the focus on the low country of South Carolina’s natural beauty and providing plenty of ways to enjoy outdoor living, this spacious home is made for the easy and relaxed pace of the coastal life without being oceanfront.
There are porches off the main rooms on both floors that look out to the beautiful outdoor setting and marsh beyond the backyard.
Once you pass through the open foyer, you enter the kitchen and dining area. The rooms are done in shades of blue, white and tones of driftwood.
The bold colors and textures used in the kitchen and throughout the house are inspiring.
The warm grey tones with vertical graining of the European-Style cabinetry from Cabinets To Go in Charleston Driftwood resembles driftwood found on the beach. They are a little bit modern meets coastal. :-)
Mixed with white and navy, they look stunning with the Crysacrylic and chrome pulls and knobs.
They combine nature-inspired appeal with everyday functionality. Every cabinet and drawer can be customized with an array of cabinet organizers to make them perfect for the way you live and work in the room.
I love these stools around the island and wish I had a place to use them in my home. All the furnishings in the house are from Wayfair.
On the other side of the kitchen island is the dining room where a large round table with a driftwood grey top and blue leather chairs sit in the center.
In a few of the rooms, the interior designer, Brian Patrick Flynn used floor to ceiling drapes that cover the corners. For a room with tall ceilings, the drapes draw your eye to the blue painted ceiling.
Right past the table, glass doors open to the large screened-in porch that runs across the back of the house.
On the other side of the kitchen is a hallway that takes you to a large walk-in pantry and to this…
…large mudroom/laundry room done in green and white. The matte white with taupe and slate vertical graining, Chelsea Linen Cabinets are from Cabinets To Go.
At the end of the counter, is a pet washing area with an extra deep sink and hose/sprayer to make pet washing easy, at least for small ones. :-)
On the other side of the room are built-in pet crates under a large counter that can be used for folding laundry or as an extra surface to place items.
From the mudroom you can walk across the house to the Master Bedroom wing where there is a separate bedroom, bath, and walk-in closet.
This was my favorite room, other than the kitchen and the outdoor spaces. It was so bright and cheery.
Notice the wall corners covered with drapes. It is a very dramatic touch that adds a pop of color to the room with bright white walls and ceiling.
Across from the bed, pieces of driftwood are screwed into the wall to create art from nature. Not sure I am a fan, but I love to see something unique.
The Master bath was large and spacious with toned down colors that were used in the bedroom. The cabinets are Chelsea Linen with dark gold pulls and knobs.
As I went out to the foyer, I noticed that all the doorknobs are chrome in the house. Loved these.
This photo is taken from the open second floor looking down into the foyer. Yes… that is a canoe hanging above the front door.
On the second floor there are two bedrooms and baths and this media room with another porch off the back.
The wide-plank flooring is found throughout the house.
The media room is done in warm taupes, browns, and teal.
The two baths have sleek surfaced, Metro White cabinets that make them easy to clean and pair with most styles of decor.
This bath had a teal and white color scheme, the other upstairs bath was dark navy blue and white.
I am an outdoor and nature loving girl and loved this view off the media room porch. Don’t you just love the pool decking?
In this photo you can see the large porch across the first floor and the one off the media room on the second floor. Both are screened-in with motorized screens that roll up and are hidden when not needed.
The house is in a beautiful gated neighborhood that runs along a marsh that will never be developed. So the view out the back of the house will never change, except for the size of the trees.
While I was at the house, I spent some time sitting on this chair as I took care of sharing photos of the house to Instagram and Facebook. They swiveled. :-)
These pool globes are actually lights. I bet they look pretty at night.
It was hard leaving the house, but our time was up. Back to dreaming.
